WHY I DESIGNED THE LAYNE
The Layne began with a simple idea: create a mechanical watch that is instantly legible while still rewarding a closer look. I spent years refining its proportions, dial layout and details to create something distinctive, balanced and enjoyable to wear.
M. Ryan Watch Designs is also built around giving back. Our company will donate a portion of every watch sale to support epilepsy and rare disease-related causes. As the brand grows, I want that commitment to grow with it.
The Layne is the first expression of that vision.

The Layne has evolved through physical prototyping, testing and refinement. The watch shown here is a development prototype used to evaluate the design in hand and on the wrist.
Before production, we made several final refinements to the dial and other details to create the watch we believe best represents the Layne.
